Hidden Treasures

In the book of Matthew 13v44, Jesus is teaching in a parable talking about  the Kingdom of God.  He says it is like a hidden treasure. Many  people do not know the benefits found  in the Kingdom of God  because they are hidden, only revealed to those who choose to understand it fully .

The owner who sold the field

The owner of this field did not realise that he had treasures in his field and he sold it, sometimes we belong to the Kingdom of God with all the resources around us but we fail to see it or we do not know how to utilise it.

Jesus teachings on the Kingdom shows that the Kingdom principles are revealed to few people, those who have taken time to understand it. However he does not hide the teachings to those who oppose him like the pharisees. He said though they hear but they do not understand.  We can hear stuff on daily basis but it takes another effort to understand it. The problem with the pharisees is that they did not believe Jesus at all, therefore did not make an effort to ask Jesus to explain further the meaning of the parables.

Many of us Christian we don't spend much time to discover the hidden treasures in the Kingdom of God, we are  citizens and believers but we don't claim all the benefits entitled to us. The one who purchased this field in the story of Jesus realised that what he had was nothing compared to treasures hidden in the field.

May God give us understanding of his principles so that we discover all our benefits in the Kingdom of God

A PENNY A DAY

In the book of  Mathews chapter 20 from verse 1 to 16, Jesus is teaching about the labourers who were hired by one man at different times and then given the same pay of a penny a day.

The master went in the morning into the marketplace and hired one group of labourers into his vineyard. He went again about the third hour and he found other labourers who were not hired, standing idle at the marketplace. This man hired them as well and he continued hiring labourers each time he found them standing idle up to the eleventh hour, meaning an hour before their pay.

When the pay time came the lord of the vineyard paid them all a penny each. Those who came first after receiving their pay murmured against their master, saying the last labourers have wrought but one hour, and you have made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

This is the teaching about the kingdom of God, and the principles of the kingdom of God are different from those of the world, just to remind my dear readers that the kingdom of God is established among those who believe in him. Therefore these principles apply to you today not only after the judgement day. Returning back to our story, Jesus concluded that in the kingdom of God, the last will be first and the first will be last. In the labourers mind, they were the first and deserved more than the last labourers which is normal in the worldly kingdom.

In the kingdom of God, blessings come in accordance to how God himself chooses and mainly its according to his grace. The labourers who came first did not understand why they received the same pay as those who came last and worked only one hour.
When the grace of God is upon you, others will think its unfair for them to be treated the same as you. This grace will not look at the year you graduated or entered a company for you to be promoted. It does not consider who will be happy with your promotion or who came first.

The grace of God does not take into account the cultures of  a particular community, their way of doing things or their rules. That is why we see David being crowned king ahead of his brothers and his father could not understand it.
It would be unconstitutional for a Hebrew foreigner in Egypt to be a prime minister but it happened with Joseph because he belonged to the kingdom of God where the rules of the game are different.

If you are reading this message today and think you are behind in many things and yet you are a Christian, please take time to remind yourself of the principles of the kingdom of God, you will found out that the last will the first and the first will the last.

HE RECRUITS FISHERMEN AS HIS FIRST DESCIPLES

Jesus being the son of the most high God, you would think he will go to the high temples to recruit his disciples. He went to the sea shore of Galilee and start calling the fishermen to be his first disciples(Mark chapter 1 verses 17 to 18). These fishermen were not bible scholars like the scribes, they learnt about the God of Israel through their parents not through formal training. They were not strict observers of the commandments like the Pharisees and the Scribes, in one occasion they were accused of not fasting like them and the other day they were plucking the ears of the corn on the Sabbath which according the Pharisees was unlawful.

Its amazing how God can choose anyone to his assignment. Looking into the profiles of these fishermen, I don't think according to human eye they met the criteria to be the followers of Jesus. There was John the Baptist who started the work to prepare the way before Jesus. He could have been picked because he already knew the coming of Jesus. He recognised and respected him (Mark chapter 1 verses 6 to 8). It would have been easier for him to continue with Jesus but his assignment ended there and God wanted to choose other disciples to carry another assignment of spreading the gospel.

God can assign you to any work and start training you himself, not only a conversion from a fisherman to a fisher of men. It could also be from a cow boy to a king or a leader like David, it can be from a prisoner to a prime minister like Joseph, it can be from a poor niece, widow to a queen like Esther and the list goes on. God is a maker, he can make you to be what he wants and he can start with anybody.

May he start with you the reader of this message this year 2015! may the promotion come to you even if people including your boss thinks you are not well qualified, you don't have formal training, may you get that job, that business, that woman if she is for you, that man if he is for you, that scholarship. Please add to the list what you want and receive it!

WAIT THE DAY I SHALL OPEN THESE BOOKS

THE BOOK OF LIFE
This is the book which records the names of all those washed by the blood of Jesus ie the righteous, those whose sins were cleansed and they entered into the family of God. They have the right to enter his kingdom and they are actually called his children(John1V12). People found in this Book shall live with the Lord God Almighty forever in the eternal life.
The book of Revelations tells us abit of this book. It says(Revelation21V27) 'nothing evil will be allowed to enter(God's Kingdom) nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty-BUT ONLY THOSE WHOSE NAMES ARE WRITTEN IN THE LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE.The way to be found in this book is to accept the Lord as your personal saviour, forsake sin and remain righteous. The lord Jesus did everything for us on the cross, he was crucified for us to be found in this book. His blood paid for our sins and we shall enter the gates free. This book is very important of all the books because if you are not found in it, you shall end up in hell, this is the passage i depicted from the book of Revelation 20 V15 'And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book Of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. If you want to read it from verse 11 you will realise that there shall be more than one book which shall be opened on the last day.Verse 12 says' I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the BOOKS were opened, including the Book Of Life.

THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
This is the book according to Malachi 3V13-15 which God records all the good works performed by the righteous, the deeds we do to help one another in time of need. We saw at one point in the book of Acts10V4 Cornelius being rewarded because of his good works. His acts of helping the poor became as a remembrance before the Lord. It could be that his works were being recorded in this book.
In the book of Malachi the above verses, God is assuring his people that they should not get tired in obeying the Lord because when this book shall be opened on the day of judgement, people shall see the difference between the righteous and the wicked. The reason he spoke that word was because people were complaining in their closets, more especially those who continued to be faithful to the Lord that why do the wicked keep on getting richer while the righteous keep on getting poorer.
Jeremiah asked the same question(Jeremiah12) and God said that 'my own people are turning against me, roaring at me like a lion of the forest' That means these people are claiming to be God's children yet they are rebellious. Jesus said look you have got your own father where you belong. However God continued to speak to Jeremiah by saying(Jeremiah12V15) 'but afterwards i will return and have compassion on all of them. I will bring them home to their own lands again, each nation to its own possession' This is after people have repented and returned to God.

TERMS AND CONDTIONS TO REMAIN IN THE BOOKS
Interestingly the conditions are so simple. They are only two but may be i can break them up a little bit.
1.Love God
2.Love your neighbour
The first one will put you in the Book Of Life and the second one in the book of remembrance.
If you love God you will remain righteous and will not continue to offend him and even if you do, you will repent and return to him, You will seek to follow his ways and honour him all the time. Therefore your name will remain in the book of life. If again you love your neighbour, you will not murder, gossip, become jealous, you will not do any kind of evil act to anayone, You may go further to support them in time of need ie giving to the poor, visiting the sick, counselling the afflicted. These acts will guarantee your name in the book of remembrance. You can be rewarded now or on the day of judgement. In all God's time is the best.

You may want to say the following prayer just to meet the requirement of entering the kingdom of God. The book of John1V12. It says 'But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

LORD JESUS, I CONFESS THAT I AM A SINNER AND I ASK FOR FORGIVENESS.
I ACCEPT YOU TO BE MY LORD AND SAVIOUR.
PLEASE WRITE MY NAME IN THE BOOK OF LIFE.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS I PRAY, AMEN.

Please if you made that prayer make an effort to know him better by reading the bible daily, start from the Book of John. Attend your church and fellowship with others.

MAY GOD REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU AS YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO SEEK HIM!
